It is a rare malformation attributed to the failed embryogenesis of developmental swellings during fourth to eighth intrauterine weeks.1 Microglossia and Hypoglossia refer to the presence of "a very small or rudimentary tongue".2 However, all the three terms have been used in co-occurrence in literature.3
Facial characteristics comprise micrognathia, microglossia, high arched palate, vertical skin folds in the jaw, H-shaped chin dimple, and a characteristic "mask-like" facies.
