method evaluation

method evaluation

An early phase of testing in which a series of experiments are performed to estimate the magnitude of analytical error.

In a method evaluation, a manufacturer determines and establishes the performance parameters of a new method during the development phase; the end-user then verifies or validates the performance claims of the manufacturer. Method evaluation requires that all aspects of performance be evaluated, including carryover, comparison with reference (“gold standard”) imprecision, inaccuracy, interference, linearity, reference range, sensitivity, stability and other operational properties.
