metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint dislocation

Etymology: Gk, meta + karpos + phalanx + L, jungere, to join, dis + locare, to place
the dislocation of a finger at the junction with the metacarpal bone, usually with damage to tendons and other structures.

metacarpophalangeal joint dislocation

A dislocation of the joint between the carpals and the phalanges, usually involving the index finger or small finger of the hand. The dislocation may be simple and respond to closed manipulation or be complex and require surgery.
