an illness with abdominal pain and fever due to enlargement and inflammation of the mesenteric lymph nodes; often mistaken for appendicitis.

Inflammation, probably from virus infection, of the lymph nodes in the MESENTERY. The condition is common in children and can be very difficult to distinguish from APPENDICITIS. Also known as mesenteric lymphadenitis.
