Meals on Wheels America plan to expand the research program to as many as 30
Meals on Wheels sites across the United States, that include about 40,000 seniors.
For the nominal per day cost of
Meals On Wheels, it is of great value and beneficial for the people opting to receive this service.
This monthly event is very exciting for
Meals On Wheels of Tampa to further their mission of nourishing, enriching, and strengthening the independent lives of the homebound and seniors in Tampa.
"However in recent years, some local authorities have switched from providing the traditional
meals on wheels service where there is a daily visit and started giving older people microwaves and microwaveable meals.

Meals on wheels also provides essential social contact for those pensioners who are otherwise alone, an important indirect benefit."
Now other older people are now being encouraged to join the hundreds of local residents who receive hot meals or afternoon teas from the
Meals on Wheels service every day.
Primarily,
Meals on Wheels serve elderly individuals who are physically unable to shop or prepare meals due to illness or disability, or people who are mentally incapable of providing for their own nutritional needs.

Meals on Wheels was a lifeline for vulnerable people which was in danger of being lost as budgets were cut and volunteers stopped coming forward.
For many pensioners
meals on wheels is the only regular contact they have with other people, and the contact with those who do deliver it is as important as the food.
WRVS member Sandy Halliday said: "WRVS has been delivering
meals on wheels in North Wales for over 50 years.
Birmingham City Council is one of the few local authorities which still has its
Meals on Wheels in-house.
