The first network, composed of the hippocampal-diencephalic limbic circuit (connected through the fornix and
mammillothalamic tract) and the parahippocampal-retrosplenial circuit (ventral cingulum), is dedicated to memory and spatial orientation, respectively; the second, the temporoamygdala-orbitofrontal network (connected through the uncinate fasciculus) is dedicated to the integration of visceral and emotional states with cognition and behavior; the third, the dorsomedial default-mode network consists of a group of medial regions (anterior cingulate-medial PFC and the posterior cingulate-precuneus interconnected through the dorsal cingulum).
