magnetic media

A general term for storage media that used magnetic storage devices (such as tapes, floppies or superfloppies), which were formerly used to archive data. They were replaced by systems that use jukeboxes and can store gigabytes of information on DVDs, which contrasts to magnetic media which stored megabytes.
