low-fat snack food

A food meant for snacking between meals that is low in fats, particularly saturated fats, and regarded as a viable alternative to “junk food” type snacks—which are high in salt, sugar and/or fats. Low-fat snacks include fruits, salads, vegetables and air-popped popcorn, as well as packaged products labelled fat-free, nonfat and low-fat.
