logged specimen

logged specimen

A cervical cytology sample, the demographic data for which has been entered onto the information system before it’s been screened, which suppresses any further notifications generated by the system until the result is received.

Popularly but incorrectly termed a “smear”—traditional smears have been abandoned in favour of liquid-based cytology specimens.
