leukotriene-receptor antagonist

Any of several medications (such as zafirlukast and montelukast) that block the inflammatory effects of leukotrienes and are used to treat patients with asthma. These medications help to reduce the dependence of asthmatic patients on corticosteroids and beta-agonist inhalers.
