drift

 [drift]
1. slow movement away from the normal or original position.
2. a chance variation, as in gene frequency from one generation to another; the smaller the population, the greater are the random variations.
antigenic drift relatively minor changes in the antigenic structure of a virus strain, probably resulting from natural selection of variants circulating among an immune or partially immune population. See also antigenic shift.
ulnar drift ulnar deviation.

drift

(drift),
1. A gradual movement, as from an original position.
2. A gradual change in the value of a random variable over time as a result of various factors, some random and some systematic effects of trend, manipulation, etc.

Control of lateral drift distribution of moment-resisting frames through pin-supported walls: (a) bare frame without control, (b) pin-supported wall frame structure and (c) force transfer between pin-supported walls and individual stories.
Pin-supported walls provide a robust way of obtaining uniformly distributed lateral drifts along the height of the structure by transferring redundant strength somewhere in the system to places where the strength is inadequate.
Finally, the linear regression result shows a positive correlation between the passing speed and the lateral drift speed (cf.
In this section, a new CA model for mixed bicycle flow considering the lateral drift behavior and the accompanying variable clearance maintaining behavior is proposed.
The weighting variable [mu] is introduced to measure the bicycle's sensitivity degree of lateral drift and taken as a constant value smaller than 1.
Prepare for even more excitement as we welcome familiar faces in new places in this year's competition, led by last year's judge Jason Choachuy now competing against other pro drivers, which include back-to-back Hyundai Lateral Drift Champion Gio Rodriguez of Team A-toy Customs.

In earthquake situation with probability of exceeding equal to 10% in 50 years structure life, lateral drift in center of gravity at roof level must be lesser than allowable value:
where [[DELTA].sup.LS] is the lateral drift in center of gravity at roof level and [[DELTA].sup.-LS] is the allowable lateral drift in center of gravity at roof level both in life safety level.
In earthquake situation with probability of exceeding equal to 2% in 50 years structure life, the structure must remain stable and lateral drift in center of gravity at roof level must be lesser than allowable value:
The absolute displacement profiles were recorded from displacement meters, and the lateral drifts were calculated from the absolute displacements.
The lateral drifts found for the target input PGA of 0.55 g were of 0.46% in the second floor and of 0.19% in the third floor, corresponding to the X-shape cracking in the second story and distributed smear cracks in the second story and the third story.
