large-scale workforce changeA general term for an initiative by NHS Employers to redesign the workforce and reduce reliance on locum and agency workers while delivering service improvements and developing a more adaptable and flexible workforce. The LSWC programmes reduce the use of highly trained and skilled staff to perform tasks for which they are overqualified; the LSWC reduces unnecessary boundaries, and enables the effective use of staff skills to deliver benefits that are measurably better for staff and, as a result, better for patients.
