(2) Saponaria officinalis, a saponin-rich perennial that is diuretic, expectorant and laxative; it is used topically for skin disease, such as acne, abscesses, eczema and psoriasis, or as a skin cleanser.
Soapwort is a potent emetic and should not be ingested internally.
