knee-locking

knee-locking

A common effect of a tear in a semilunar (meniscus) cartilage of the knee joint or of its attachment. A fragment of cartilage may slip between the bearing surfaces of the joint and prevent either full straightening or full bending. The treatment is surgical removal of the affected cartilage (meniscectomy).
