a canal leading from the facial canal to the tympanic cavity through which the chorda tympani nerve enters this cavity.

canaliculus of chorda tympani

a small canal that opens off the facial canal just before its termination, transmitting the chorda tympani nerve into the tympanic cavity. Also called canal of chorda tympani, Civinini's canal.
