The solutions used were standardized iodometrically. De-mineralized distilled water was used for preparing the solution of hypo, propan-1,3-diol, butan-1,4-diol and other reagents.
The resulting hydrogen sulfide was absorbed in a buffered cadmium acetate solution and the cadmium sulfide that was formed was determined iodometrically. Furthermore, the extracted rubber was digested with sulfuric acid/nitric acid in a microwave oven.
