The potential role of iodine-123 metaiodobenzylguanidine imaging for identifying sustained ventricular tachycardia in patients with cardiomyopathy.
Iodine-131 instead of iodine-123, which is more suitable for SPECT/CT imaging, was used because of the relative ease of acquirement and its much longer half-life ([t.sub.1/2] = 8.0 days), which could make experiment significantly easier by preventing decay-induced loss.
An alternative is to perform a technetium-99m pertechnetate scan followed by an iodine-123 which can rule out the existence of discordant nodules.
In the clinical cases of suspected ectopic thyroid tissue, radionuclide imaging with technetium-99m pertechnetate, iodine-123, or iodine-131 is useful for functional assessment of radioiodine uptake by the suspected ectopic thyroid tissues.
The most important diagnostic test for ETT is scintigraphy, using technetium-99m, iodine-131, or iodine-123. This test, demonstrates the presence or absence of the thyroid in its normal location.
Consequently, N',N'-methylethyl-6-chloro(4'-iodophenyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-acetamide or CLINME (Figure 1) has been prepared for radiolabelling with both carbon-11 and iodine-123 for PET and SPECT studies, respectively.
SPECT cameras are available in the vast majority of hospitals, and because iodine-123 has a substantial half-life, studies with [[sup.123]I]-labelled ligands can also be better scheduled than studies using [[sup.11]C]-labelled tracers.
Technetium 99m (Tc-99m) dominated the SPECT radioisotope market in 2012, followed by thallium-201(Tl-201), gallium-67 (Ga-67), and iodine-123 (I-123).
Nuclear medicine can also be used to calculate the shunt ratio by portal scintigraphy following submucosal rectal injection of iodine-123 iodoamphetamine.
Additionally, Nordion will radiolabel Navidea's precursor drug product with Iodine-123 to form [123I]NAV5001, manage the logistics and make arrangements for shipment of NAV5001 to third-party clinical trial sites on behalf of Navidea.
The patient was examined by an iodine-123 metaiodobenzylguanidine scintigraphy with increased radiotracer uptake in the corresponding prostatic mass on CT imaging.
