Non puerperal inversion of uterus is an exceptional condition secondary to intrauterine pathology like polyps and leiomyoma with fundal attachments.1 Contributing factors responsible for uterine inversion include thinning of the uterine walls from the base of the tumour and pressure atrophy, sudden emptying of the uterus which was previously distended by a tumour, and dilatation of the cervix.
In 7 non-puerperal inversion cases of fibroid with polyp 4 cases were with third degree inversion of uterus; 3 cases were of second degree type of inversion of uterus, one of them was diagnosed during laparotomy.
Retained placenta and inversion of uterus was found to be absent in Group-A whereas in Group-B incidence of retained placenta was 2% and inversion of uterus was found to be nil in both groups, probably due to early intervention to remove the placenta in some cases.
