(ĭn′tər-trănz-vûrs′, -trănz′vûrs′)
Any of the paired muscles between the transverse processes of adjacent vertebrae, designated anterior and posterior muscles in the cervical region, lateral and medial in the lumbar region, and single in the thoracic region.
