sub·for·ni·cal or·gan (SFO),

the intercolumnar tubercle. One of the circumventricular organs., SFO has fenestrated capillaries and is outside the blood-brain barrier. It is thought to be a chemoreceptor zone involved in cardiovascular regulation.
