The latest agreement means that MGH licenses RayStation for treatment planning of advanced intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and volumetric modulated ARC therapy (VMAT) treatments, thus bringing the solution into clinical practice for the first time, the Swedish company said.
This revolutionary treatment consists of a series of highly focused and easily tolerated Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (4D IG-IMRT) sessions, followed by radioactive seed implant ("brachytherapy"), and concluding with additional radiation to the periprostatic tissues.
Both companies focus on nontraditional radiotherapy, with NASI using radioactive seeds to treat tumors, while Nomos uses a directed beam technology known as intensity modulated radiation therapy.
