Due to hypercarbic respiratory acidosis, tachypnea, and hypoxia, she was immediately placed on noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) (Philips Respironics V60) with the following settings: inspiratory positive airway pressure (IPAP) of 14 cm H2O, expiratory positive airway pressure (EPAP) of 12 cm H2O, respiratory rate of 15, and FiO2 of 100%.
