Congenital absence of the mandible, usually accompanied by approximation of the ears.

agnathia

The complete or virtual absence of the mandible. All cases of agnathia that occur at birth are due to mutations, and are typically associated with holoprosencephaly (HPE), which may relate to alterations in signalling from forebrain and foregut endoderm organising centres, and subsequent first pharyngeal arch development.
