inconsolable

(ĭn″kŏn-sō′lŏ-bĭl) [L. inconsolabilis]
Said of an infant or child who is extremely irritable and cannot be comforted despite its parents' best efforts. In pediatrics inconsolability is a clinical indicator of severe illness.
