hypothetic mean organism

(HMO) (hī'pŏ-thet'ik mēn ōr'gă-nizm)
A hypothetic organism with characters that are the means of the positive characters of the organisms that belong to the same taxon as the HMO, as opposed to the calculated mean organism.
