hyaline layer of Hopewell-Smith
(hōp'wel smith),a thin layer of enamellike material located between the cementum and dentin of the root of a tooth; this layer, elaborated by the inner enamel epithelial layer of the Hertwig epithelial root sheet, is believed to facilitate the adhesion of cementum to dentin.
