A compress of gauze, cloth, or other absorbent material, moistened with hot water and applied externally to an injured body part to relieve inflammation.

hot pack
A type of superficial moist heat applied to reduce pain and promote muscle relaxation. The pack is heated to 65° to 90°C in hot water. The pack is then wrapped with terrycloth prior to application.
