Hepatology Any of the single-stranded RNA viruses of family Flaviviridae, first isolated from a surgeon–initials GB; HGBV-C is genetically similar to HGBV-A and HGBV-B, and resembles HCV, and has been isolated from Pts with non-A-E hepatitis; HGBV-C infection is a risk for Pts on chronic hemodialysis, may be transmitted by transfusions, produces persistant infections, and is identified with reverse transcriptase-PCR
