hepatic vein catheterization

the introduction of a long, fine catheter into a hepatic venule for the purpose of recording intrahepatic venous pressure. The catheter is inserted through a vein in the arm and is passed through the right atrium, inferior vena cava, and hepatic vein into the small hepatic vessel.
