TCF7L2A gene on chromosome 10q25.3 that encodes a high mobility group (HMG)-box-containing transcription factor, which plays a key role in Wnt-signalling pathway, glucose homeostasis and key developmental and growth regulatory mechanisms of cells.
TCF7L2 mutation increases the risk of type-2 diabetes.
