PLK2

A gene on chromosome 5q12.1-q13.2 that encodes a tumour-suppressor serine/threonine-protein kinase involved in synaptic plasticity and memory, centriole duplication and G1/S-phase transition. PLK2 is induced by p53/TP53, suggesting that it may play a role in mitotic checkpoint following stress. It is highly expressed in foetal lung, kidney, spleen and heart.
