a late sequel of yaws and endemic syphilis, manifested by massive periostitis of the nasal processes of the maxillae with formation of bony hornlike growths at the sides of the nose, distortion of facial features, and eventual destruction of the nose and orbit.

A disease, endemic in West Africa, characterized by exostoses from the nasal processes of the maxillary bones, producing a symmetric swelling on each side of the nose; believed to be an osteitis connected with yaws.
