The CSWE Gero-Ed Center reviewed both sets of competencies and modified them slightly to create (1) a list of knowledge, skills, and values to guide programmatic curriculum development and infusion in foundation BSW and MSW (1st-year) courses; and (2) a skill-based scale of a more specialized set of competencies that can be rated by both students and field supervisors and used along the continuum of learning for BSW, MSW, and post-MSW education.
