gametogony

 [gam″ĕ-tog´o-ne]
1. the development of merozoites into male and female gametes, which later fuse to form a zygote.
2. reproduction by means of gametes.

(gam'ĕ-tog'ō-nē),
A stage in the sexual cycle of sporozoans in which gametes are formed, often by schizogony.
