The nasal bones articulate posteriorly with the
frontal process of the maxilla.

A 16-year-old boy presented with a compound and severely depressed fracture of the nasal bones and
frontal processes of the maxillae bilaterally after he had been struck with a cricket bat (figure 1).
The anterior wall is formed by the
frontal process of maxilla and the frontal bone, which thickens anterosuperiorly to form the frontal beak.
When measures were compared between male and female skulls, there was significant difference, being male measures of nasal bones and
frontal process of maxilla larger than female.
Depending on the degree of pneumatization, agger nasi cells can be bounded anteriorly by the
frontal process of the maxilla, anterolaterally by the nasal and lacrimal bones, posterolaterally by the lamina papyracea, superiorly by the frontal sinus, inferolaterally by the uncinate process, and posteriorly by the anterior ethmoid complex.
In mild form there may be coloboma of the nasal ala only.[R] However, encephalocele, (7,8) complete absence of
frontal process of maxilla, orbital floor and confluence of the orbit, maxillary sinus and oral cavity can be seen in severe forms.[R] The present case had bilateral clefts.
The more extensive removal of bony structures with a drill leads to a more marked postoperative inflammatory response, and some healthy structures (e.g., parts of the nasal septum, the interfrontal septum, the anterior attachment of the middle turbinate, and parts of the
frontal process) must be sacrificed to achieve wide drainage.
