fibroblast growth-factor receptor-3
fibroblast growth-factor receptor-3One of the three (FGFR3a, FGFR3b, FGFR3c) mitogenic signalling molecules with roles in angiogenesis, wound healing, cell migration, neural outgrowth and embryonic development. They are up-regulated in cell transformation and some cancers.
FGFR3 isoforms are produced intra- and extracellularly by alternative splicing events, and are tissue-specific—e.g., FGFR3b is expressed in epithelia and FGFR3c is expressed in mesenchymal tissue.
