Medtalk Antibodies cross-reactive to HIV-1 core antigen are rare, but may occur in normal subjects or those with autoimmune disease, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and multiple sclerosis; low-level false positive ELISA occurs in alcoholic hepatopathy, pregnancy, non-HIV infected IV drug abusers and in hemodialysis.
