A color arbitrarily assigned to a particular feature or aspect of a displayed digital image, as one from a camera or a CT scanner, that is used to distinguish the feature from other details in the image. False colors are used to graphically represent such phenomena as temperature, density, altitude, and brightness.
b. Such colors used in a displayed image: an angiogram in false color.
