Decision-making adjective Referring to a mechanism or device incorporated in a system that ensures safety, should the system fail to function properly. See Clinical pathway.

Free of problems; infallible. It is used of a device, system, or program manufactured or conceived not to malfunction or to compensate automatically for a malfunction.
