exercise pyramidA proposed schematic for exercise that recommends the amount and types of exercise that should be performed for optimal health, modelled after the USDA’s food pyramid. At the bottom are nonstructured physical activities (e.g., walking the dog, gardening, climbing stairs); higher on the pyramid are active recreational activities (e.g., basketball, swimming, tennis and others); at the peak of the exercise pyramid is vigorous exercise, which is recommended at least three times/week for at least 30 minutes each session.
