erythrocyte transketolase activity coefficient
(trans″kēt'ol-ās″)The degree to which transketolase, an enzyme involved in carbohydrate metabolism, rises in response to a loading dose of thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP). Large increases in enzyme activity after TPP loading indicate the tested patient has a thiamine deficiency.
