The use of FRET to analyze polymer mixing, an approach pioneered by Morawetz (8-10) and extensively used by Winnik to study latex film formation, (11), (12) requires the preparation of polymer particles labeled with a small amount (typically less than 1 mol%) of two different dyes: a fluorescent energy donor dye and an energy acceptor dye.
