Having the planes of the fetal head inclined to those of the maternal pelvis.

The principle is specifically intended to account for the preference for inflectional morphology and simple clitics over full words, e.g., bigger rather than *more big, but would seem to be perfectly adaptable to cases of encliticization such as those under discussion.
