emergency medical technician-paramedic (EMT-P)
an advanced-level emergency medical technician who works in prehospital care settings under the direction of a physician, often through radio contact. The EMT-P is nationally certified in all the skills of EMTs of other levels and has additional training in pharmacology and administration of emergency drugs. See also emergency medical service.
