Trca, "Transcutaneous
electrogastrography in patients with ileus.
(9) These symptoms are thought to arise from increased gastric capacity and delayed gastric emptying in patients as shown by
electrogastrography and radioisotope marker tracing techniques.
Electrogastrography isn't a widely used method for the diagnosis of gastroparesis, but provides detailed information on the pathogenesis of gastrointestinal disorders.
Gastric motility has been studied in patients with cirrhosis using gastric emptying scintigraphy (n = 304) [10-18], ultrasonography (n = 67) [19-22],
electrogastrography (EGG) (n = 57) [23-25], and breath tests (n = 82) [26, 27].
Some have identified antral hypomotility and reduced gastric emptying by utilizing
electrogastrography, gastric cintilography, and manometry, but such events were not directly related to GERD episodes (24,25).
Gastric emptying is determined by different gastric motility studies that include manometry,
electrogastrography, paracetamol absorption test, and radio isotope scintigraphy (10).
Gastric motility abnormalities--evaluated by
electrogastrography (EGG)--have been associated with NVP symptoms and normal EGGs with the absence of symptoms.

Electrogastrography in Normal Subjects Using a Muffin Meal," Digestive Diseases and Sciences 46, no.
Acute hyperglycemia evoked gastric slow wave dysrhythmias via endogenous prostaglandin generation: In a randomized double-blind study 22 healthy humans underwent fasting
electrogastrography during hyperglycemic clamping to 250 to 290 mg/dl after 1 g of ginger, placebo or the prostaglandin [E.sub.1] analog misoprostol (400 [micro]g).
The other 10% did poorly and had an upper GI evaluation with
electrogastrography and esophageal manometry.
The other 10% did very poorly and received an upper GI evaluation with
electrogastrography and esophageal manometry.
