Congenital absence of all or part of one or more fingers or toes. Known also as split-hand/foot deformity, lobster claw. There are several varieties and the pattern of inheritance is usually irregular.

inherited, congenital skeletal defect in pups and kittens; there is incomplete fusion of the three rays that develop from the forelimb bud in the embryo; the paw is split up the middle as far as the metacarpals or to the carpus in some. Called also split-hand deformity.
