The LV geometry before the championship was dominated by the normal form (51.3%) and by concentric remodelling (37.8%), with only 2.7% of referees having LV eccentric hypertrophy. At the end of the championship, there were no new cases of left ventricular hypertrophy.

Nevertheless, at week 6 only, the W/L ratio in the left ventricle was lower in SHAM Ex rats than in SHAM SED rats, suggesting eccentric hypertrophy. These data suggest that Ex (swimming) induced adaptation in the left ventricle in normotensive rats later than in hypertensive rats, probably because of the additional overload on the heart caused by both high blood pressure and the increased metabolic demand in response to Ex.
Concentric type of myocardial hypertrophy is characterized as an increase in LV mass with an augmented relative wall thickness (RWT, which is the ratio of the sum of posterior wall thickness and interventricular septum thickness to the LV diameter) above arbitrary 0.42 or 0.45 value, whereas eccentric hypertrophy is an increased LV mass without augmented RWT (Haykowsky et al., 2002).
Prior to surgery, about 30% of the patients had concentric left ventricular hypertrophy, about 20% had eccentric hypertrophy, and about 10% had concentric remodeling; the remaining 40% had a normal left ventricular shape.
Similarly, the assessment carried out right before the hemodialysis session can diagnose LV dilatation with eccentric hypertrophy, which will be "converted" to concentric, at the end of the session.
