double barrelled

adjective Referring to a family name (surname) with two parts which may or may not be hyphenated, so named as an oblique analogy to a double-barrelled shotgun.

While double-barrelling surnames is distinctly uncommon in the US, it is required by law in Spain and most of Latin America, and not uncommon amongst well-to-do Britons.
