double biopsy

double biopsy

A term of art referring to the taking of two excisions of tissue during endoscopy before removing them from the instrument, as opposed to the more time-consuming “one bite at a time”, which is followed by removal of the tissue before taking the next bite. Double biopsies often result in inadequate specimens and tissue loss.
