skip metastases

A discontinuous spread of malignancy in which uninvolved contiguous regions are interspersed with foci of involvement.

Examples, “skipping” cancers
Oesophageal cancer, osteosarcoma, squamous cancer of mouth.

Prognosis
Generally, dismal.

Discontinous metastases Oncology The metastatic spread of a CA in which contiguous regions are skipped, while distant foci of the CA are present, a finding with a poor prognosis. See Metastasis.
